The Ministry of National Security intends to finalize arrangements with several international institutions for the implementation of the third phase of the Citizen Security and Justice Programme (CSJP III).

This is stated in a Ministry Paper tabled by Portfolio Minister, Hon. Peter Bunting, during the sitting of the House of Representatives, on Tuesday, May 13.

Among the agencies being approached include the Inter-American Development Bank, Department for International Development and the Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development.

“We are quite advanced in our negotiations. We expect this to be the last of the CSJPs. As such, the distinguishing features of CSJPIII will be the transitioning of various approaches currently supported by the programme into various Ministries, Departments and Agencies; improve targeting of the programme to those most at risk for violent offending; and a strong emphasis on changing social norms that support violence,” the document notes.

The Ministry Paper further states that while the programme will maintain its focus on a select number of communities, flexibility has been built in to respond to issues that could lead to significant acts of violence and disruption of the peace emerging in those and other communities.
